We are looking for a professional Transportation Planner to add to our team in Austin, TX.
Join our Transportation team and use your best practices and knowledge of internal or external practices to support our projects. You’ll assist in the preparation of planning studies, alternative analyses, impact assessments and technical reports. You’ll work alongside our transportation team in provision of analytical support to projects across the spectrum of our transportation planning business. In this role you’ll provide assistance in the preparation of transportation and corridor planning projects, or any other infrastructure/ land use project. You’ll also use your experience to help to mentor your teammates with less experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of planning studies, alternatives analyses, cost effectiveness, impact assessments, special projects, and technical reports,
- Provision of analytical support to projects across the spectrum of our transportation planning business,
- Assist in the preparation of transportation and corridor planning projects, or any other infrastructure/land use project,
- Develop and use of data processing tools to provide high quality inputs to analysis procedures such as crash frequencies and capacity analyses,
- Identify planning strategies using software to analyze data and assess scenarios,
- Develop maps and other graphics to document findings or visualize data,
- Identify and provide conceptual descriptions of transportation improvements alternatives,
- Conduct concept level evaluation and studies of transportation improvements options,
- Conduct studies on measures of effectiveness for transportation projects,
- Research current transportation trends and related topics at the local, State, and Federal levels,
- Attend coordination and review meetings, and interact with clients as his or her level of experience progresses,
- Assist with other duties assigned by senior staff

Here’s What You’ll Need:- Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Engineering or comparable degree,
- Experience in the preparation of planning studies and technical analysis,
- Experience preparing materials or conducting public outreach efforts,
- Ability to create high quality graphic reports and presentations. Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
- Ability to analyze data utilizing spread sheets and data base software,
- Ability to conduct ArcGIS-based analysis and prepare maps/graphics to support technical documents,
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team of professionals,
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
- Ability to obtain AICP Certification in the first two years,
- Exceptional technical writing and verbal skills,
- Spanish speaker preferred,
- 0-2 years of experience preferred.
