We have an exciting opportunity for a Fluid Systems Technician II join our team with the Operations & Test Division.
This is a JETS II CBA position with Jacobs.
The Fluid Systems Technician II will:
- Performs skilled work in development, fabrication, setup, operation and maintenance of all equipment involved with high pressure fluid systems and vacuum systems.
- Fabricates fixtures, test setups, piping and tubing systems, etc. from drawings, sketches or verbal orders for tests involving high pressure systems using nitrogen, water and cryogenic propellants.
- Selects components for compatibility and use proper techniques to maintain cleanliness of parts.
- Perform preventative and reparative maintenance on various types of equipment such as pumps, valves, filters, regulators, etc. using manufacturer’s manuals or area specific procedures.
- Uses all basic shop equipment and basic shop equipment such as drill press, band saw, grinder, lathe, etc. and all common hand tools.
- Must work with a minimum of instruction and supervision.
- Must be capable of troubleshooting the systems worked on and be able to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics and instruction manuals.
- Operate test stand duty stations, keeping log books and recording data as necessary.
- Maintain awareness of safety procedures and use all safety equipment required for the job.
- Keep work area neat and orderly while working in a safe manner.
- Receives technical advice from higher grade technicians, lead technician, supervisor or engineers.
- May be assisted by lower grade technicians who have frequent contact with professional and others within the establishment.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- General computer and typing skills.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Preferences:
- Ability to operate a forklift.

Physical Requirements:
Requires occasional:
- Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above or below ground level.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds from ground level, at waist level (frequent) and overhead.
- Carrying up to 25 pounds for 10 yards.
- Crawling from 1 to 30 minutes at a time.
Requires frequent:
- Bending, kneeling crouching/ squatting from one to 30 minutes at a time.
- Reaching for, handling and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
Requires constant:
- Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
- Coordinating eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
- Standing.
Requires the ability to:
- Follow set procedures and standards.
- Apply basic mathematical skills; plan and work selecting proper tools.
- compare and understand differences in the size, shape, and form or lines, figures, and objects
- Follow written and oral directions, plans and blueprints.
- Picture and evaluate solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked.
- Recognize and report safety hazards.
Warehouse or lab environment. Exposure to uneven ground levels, high or low elevations, confined areas, various noise levels caused by power tools, machinery, equipment, etc., extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc. Other JSC Test Facility.
Equipment and Machines:
Common hand tools, basic shop equipment such as drill press, lathe, band saw, grinder, etc.
Attendance:
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
Other Essential Functions:
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
