We have a great opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Morristown, NJ office, and be part of the Geotechnical Group for the NJ and NYC offices. As our Geotechnical Engineer you’ll have the opportunity to follow projects from concept through the construction phase working on current and upcoming design-bid-build and design-build projects in transportation, rail, water, and ports and maritime areas. By joining us, you’ll assist with design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, slope stabilizing measures, liquefaction mitigation, as well as preparation of geotechnical data reports and design recommendation reports.
Your experience with design assignments in foundation engineering, soil mechanics, earth retaining structures, seismic design, and ground improvement will contribute to your success.

• Participate in field assignments that will include observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing) and geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and inspection of earth retaining structures, deep foundations (drilled shafts, driven piles), and shallow foundations, and trenchless pipe installation.
• Design foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement, and embankment and cut slopes.
• Perform earthquake hazard evaluations, including site-specific site response analysis and liquefaction potential analysis.
• Analyze laboratory testing results and select geotechnical design parameters. Prepare and review technical reports, data reports and geotechnical interpretative reports.
• Use computer programs including gINT, Settle3D, Slide, APILE, LPILE, Shaft, Group, DeepEXcav, GRLWeap, (and possibly Plaxis or FLAC) to complete engineering analysis and prepare design calculations. Prepare design drawings and construction specifications.
• Review submittals and RFIs,
• Work in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams specifically with the NJ and NYC Geotechnical Group, but also, across North America and the world. Share technical knowledge across geographical boundaries to foster innovative project solutions.
• Possess an outgoing and positive attitude, are dependable and meet all assigned project deadlines.
• Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.

Here’s what you’ll need:
• Bachelor of Science with an emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering
• You should have academia and/or consulting experience with large design and construction projects as well as field soil classification, and the desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each geotechnical engineering project.
• Professional expertise with gINT, Settle3D, Slide, APILE, LPILE, Shaft, Group, DeepEXcav, and/or GRLWeap (and possibly Plaxis or FLAC)
• Able to participate in field assignments including subsurface investigation, instrumentation, monitoring, and construction.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• Field investigation experience such as knowledge of various types of drilling, and laboratory test assignments
• Master of Science degree with emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering
