This position will primarily be performed from home, however the selected candidate must be near the MDA facility (Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO).
Description of Duties:
The Jr Software Developer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
- Analyze requirements, evaluate software architectures, designing and developing software solutions within a team environment.
- Help design, develop, Operate & Maintain (O&M) software applications for the purposes of information sharing, work and asset tracking, process improvement, and automation.
- Integrate Government Off-The-Shelf and Commercial Off-The-Shelf products into the MDA infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain applications using Java, Tomcat, JavaScript, HTML, MS SQL Server, SQL and Linux (RHEL preferred). Helpful items: C#, Angular, Visual Studio, and PKI.
- Gather and document customer requirements for applications, recommend best solutions, and implement approved solutions.
- Research new technologies, evaluate products, write documentation, and perform training as needed.
- Mentor other software developers in some capacity.
- Possibly be required to lead individual software development projects, or participate on a team for given projects.
- Provide Operations and Maintenance support for select COTS/GOTS applications.
The successful candidate will:

Primary duty hours generally fall within core support hours (9 AM – 3 PM) Monday – Friday.
This position will primarily be performed from home; however, the selected candidate must be near the MDA facility (Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO).
This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.
This position is expected to pay $83,000 - $93,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
This position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days. If a candidate has not been selected at that time, it will continue to be posted until a suitable candidate is selected or the position is closed.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Basic Requirements:
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 2 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 0 years of general experience.
- Must have 2.5 years of directly related experience in dynamic web application design and development.
- Must have experience with some of the following languages and technologies: JAVA, Tomcat, JavaScript, HTML,
- MS SQL Server, SQL and Linux (RHEL preferred) Helpful items: Microsoft ASP.NET, C#, Angular, PKI, MS Windows server operating systems, MS Visual Studio, JIRA or similar software development management tool (such as MS Team Foundation Server), and SharePoint.
- Must have, or obtain within 90 days of start date, a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (I.E. Security ).
- Must have, or be able to obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Desired Requirements:
- Have experience with customer support-ticketing systems and change management support tools.
- Have experience developing secure software and mitigating vulnerabilities. Capable of a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Be familiar with the Missile Defense Agency and BMDS programs.
- Have experience developing secure applications that are compliant with DISA Security and Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Have experience using Fortify or similar tools, for code analysis.
- Be skilled in software development life-cycle, CM, and CMMI
- Have an understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes.
