We have an exciting opportunity for a Lab Manager - Engineering Development Facility to join the team with our Engineering Division.
The Lab Manager - Engineering Development Facility will:
- Report directly to the Design and Analysis Group Manager. The position is responsible for laboratory management of the Engineering Development Facility (EDF) in support of several NASA Engineering Divisions.
- Execute lab management duties in several technical areas in support of Engineering Department prototype development activities (includes electronics and mechanical systems
fabrication, assembly and test.) - EDF Access Request management and implementation
- EDF related Engineering Service Request management
- Work with various manufacturing managers to coordinate technician work with associated
technicians (electrical, mechanical etc.) - Coordinate lab cleaning with facilities management
- Coordinate and assure compliance with Safety Lead and building requirements
- Track EDF related Engineering Service Requests to completion
- Maintain and implement EDF policies and procedure
- EDF Lab Space Assignment
- Equipment Calibration Maintenance
- Manage hazardous materials area
- Coordinate hazardous material disposal
- Provide support to Projects conducting work in the EDF as required
- Equipment and Lab Consumable Maintenance
- Work with EDF Management
Oversight to track Innovation, Maintenance and consumables costs. - Coordination with Admin,Projects and shipping/receiving of property entering and leaving EDF
- Lead weekly EDF Safety
Toolbox Stand Ups - Maintain EDF procurement list
- Maintain all prototype equipment within EDF (including 3D printers and machine shop)
- Perform other duties as required
Requisition Qualifications:
This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
- Typically requires a HS diploma and 10 years of experience or BS in Engineering Technology or related field and 5 years of experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a team environment and a history of effectively interacting with senior managers at all levels.
- Experience planning and establishing work priorities.
- Proficient in MS Office programs, particularly MS SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel, PowerPoint, Word,Teams, and Outlook
Requisition Preferences:
- High School Diploma orequivalent and five (5) years of direct engineeringmanufacturing/laboratory participation.
- Prior experience fabricating and assembly electrical/electronics and mechanical component hardware
- Familiarity with electronics manufacturing and test hardware (e.g. soldering stations, crimp tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes etc.)
- Familiarity with 3D printing machines (e.g. Stratasys, Markforged etc.)
- Familiarity with mechanical machining hardware (e.g. CNC routers, lathes, mills etc.)
- Exposure to Smartsheets

Essential Functions
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
