Job Summary:

The role of a Maintenance Mechanic is to troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical equipment for facility and food processing/packaging equipment . Maintenance mechanics use educated decisions based on equipment knowledge and understanding to solve mechanical problems. Maintenance mechanics also install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawings. They keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of the facilities in repair. Performance uptime and equipment reliability, safety lock outs, helping with capital installation projects, overhauls to support the company’s needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Good understanding of work safety guidelines
  • Work with and within a team to build and maintain a team environment
  • Assist in both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair needs
  • Perform mechanical, and electrical maintenance on all plant equipment
  • Support preventive maintenance program that ensures uptime and reliability of facility and food processing equipment.
  • Troubleshooting equipment, other projects as needed.
  • Service, repair, adjust and test various machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanic (not electronic) principles.
  • Acquire and retain knowledge of basic and routine maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbally) with team members and operations team on all levels.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  • Connect power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment, and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
  • Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience and Training

  • At least 4 years of industrial maintenance.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify the cause of equipment breakdown
  • Experience in installing, operating, maintain and repairing food processing equipment

Technology/Equipment

  • Basic Computer Skills

Characteristics

  • Ability to follow all safety guidelines; attention to detail; enjoys working with tools and determining root causes to eliminate repeat issues.
  • Ability to work alone/unsupervised

Experience and Training

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of O.S.H.A laws and regulations in the manufacturing field.

Technology/Equipment

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of hand tools, wielding/cutting, tape measure
  • PLC knowledge helpful

Bilingual a plus! English - Spanish/Chinese/Vietnamese!

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 50 lbs while moving product and/or packaging. Specific vision abilities required by this job include far and near vision and the ability to see color. Depth perception is required to move around departments and supplies. This is a full-time, hourly position. We offer excellent benefits including Medical/Dental/Vision/Life insurance on the 1st of the month following 60 days, matching 401K retirement plan, short and long term disability, paid time off, paid sick leave, and holiday pay after 90 days.
