Your favorite local coffee shop is hiring. Join our fun team of baristas. Must be able to work Saturdays and the ocasional Sunday.

Java Moon is looking for a part time barista seeking a fun, face paced enviroment. To be successful in this role you must have exceptional customer service skills. Responsibilities also include educating customers on drinks and food items as well as making recommendations based on preferences. Baristas will also up-sell special items and take customer orders. Other responsibilities include learning the ends and outs of making all types of coffee and espresso drinks and following recipes for food and drink items. Note: this position’s compensation includes hourly pay and tips.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers as they enter
  • Answer and interact with customers regarding drink and food orders.
  • Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
  • Prepare food and beverages following recipes
  • Serve beverages and prepared food, like sandwiches, salads cookies and pastries
  • Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
  • Keep the barista and lobby areas clean
  • Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
  • Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
  • Comply with health and safety regulations

Skills

  • Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress requested but not required
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations
  • Flexibility to work weekends
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $9.00 - $18.00 per hour
