How you can make a bigger difference:
The Cedar Knolls House Hard to Place Group Residence serves girls ages 16 to 21 who exhibit a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges stemming from acute and/or chronic traumatization. All of the youth are referred by the Administration for Children’s Services. The Group Residence provides supervised living units and programs of therapeutic and recreational services that emphasize family interaction and strengthening of community support networks, as well as increasing independent living skills. The goal for all of our youth is to transition them back to the community within a year of placement to a family member, significant adult connection, achieve housing, higher education, etc.

The Team Leader is a vital part of Milieu Team. The Team Leader at Cedar Knolls House supervises the Direct Support Professional. The Team Leader is the functional supervisor of the program and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide supervision of all Direct Support Professional staff within their living unit and ensure appropriate program coverage.
  • Provides direct care staff training and orientation.
  • Facilitate weekly treatment team meetings, administrator meetings, staff meetings, and individual supervision of the Direct Support Professional staff.
  • Coordinate and oversee all independent living skills for the clients.
  • Function as the primary liaison for the program between the client and the school system, clients’ teacher and principal.
  • Complete weekly Direct Support Professional staff schedule two weeks in advance to ensure adequate unit coverage.
  • Oversee day-to-day implementation of the clients’ treatment/ service plans.
  • Act as integral part of the interviewing process and has strong input into final hiring recommendations.
  • Work in collaboration with the Assistant Director and HR for disciplinary actions of staff.
  • Ongoing collaboration with the clinical and nursing staff regarding clients functioning including the modification of ICMPs as necessary.
  • Participate in the intake for new referrals.
  • Provide direct milieu care on an as-needed basis.
  • Become a trainer for Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and other foundational trainings order to provide ongoing training to the staff.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented individuals of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters in Human Services or related field preferred
  • 2 years’ experience working with at risk youth, preferably in a residential setting
  • A current, valid and clean Driver’s license is required for this position
