JBT AeroTech manufactures and services airport ground support equipment (plane de-icers, aircraft tow vehicles and cargo loading systems), airport gate equipment (Jetway brand), and military equipment.

The Global Continuous Improvement Manager is a key position within the JBT AeroTech Ground Support Equipment (GSE) business unit. This position reports to the VP of Operations and significantly contributes to the overall GSE leadership function by championing the Relentless Continuous Improvement (RCI) efforts for the business unit.


Responsibilities

This position is responsible for leading, supporting, and facilitating the RCI activities in both manufacturing and office processes throughout JBT GSE worldwide. This includes domestic and international sites with emphasis and involvement at each site based on overall business unit priorities and the individual RCI culture development needs. This position provides leadership for the RCI culture development by modeling supporting behaviors, providing training, and coaching team members throughout JBT AeroTech GSE.  This position is based in Orlando, FL and is not remote.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Utilize Lean and other continuous improvement methodologies to drive a culture of learning, a dedication to ongoing improvement, and a focus on sustainable results.
  • Utilize strategic planning initiatives, KPI results, daily management performance, value stream mapping and A3’s as input for the development of kaizen funnels for each site/function.
  • Provide leadership for the effective and timely execution of the kaizen funnels for each site/function.
  • Lead kaizen events as needed and further develop processes for kaizen event management and kaizen event leader training.
  • Lead the Relentless Continuous Improvement Team (RCIT) to help drive lean initiatives and recognize successes.
  • Lead and coordinate the overall RCI training activities. Provide training as needed.
  • Conduct annual RCI self-assessments for each GSE site.
  • Support the JBT Operating System process.
  • Coordinate with and support Corporate RCI and other JBT site activities.
  • Other responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years applicable experience in lean, engineering, manufacturing or quality functions
  • Proven success improving both manufacturing and office processes in build-to-order manufacturing environments with multiple sites.

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

  • Lean certification, related experience and/or proven mastery of lean enterprise concepts.

Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications:

  • Outstanding influence and persuasion capability. Ability to be a change agent by teaching and coaching others at all levels, without direct authority.
  • Strong training skills, both preparing and presenting training materials.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Should have demonstrated skills in problem solving and team building.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills utilized as an approach towards decision making.
  • Ability to travel including international assignments.

Special Information (Travel required, physical requirements, work environment, supervisor responsibilities, safety and so on):

 

Physical Demands – Work environment will consist of a combination of hours spent in an office with heavy computer use and extensive time spent on the shop floor. The shop floor will result in exposure to high noise levels and typical manufacturing processes (e.g. welding, machining, material handling, etc.). Some exposure to high and low temperatures and exposure to harsh outdoor weather conditions may be required if involved with improvements in Test or in the field.

Travel - Must be willing to travel as needed domestically and internationally (approximately 25% travel is anticipated). Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a passport.
