What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teaching Artist position at JCC Association of North America?
Principal Responsibilities:
Habimah Arts Camp is a multi-disciplinary summer camp giving children, grades from 1 st -6 th , a chance to work with Baltimore's master performing and visual arts teaching artists and professionals. It is the programs' goal to enhance campers' skills, explore new horizons, and offer exposure and skill-building in various realms within visual and performing arts.Camp classes are intended to develop creativity, confidence, and teamwork. Each camp day consists of several classes within these fields, and concluding each two-week camp session, campers put on a final showcase of what they've learned. Outside of time in class with the artist, this program also incorporates swimming, outdoor time, and field trips.
Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education, the ideal teaching artist is prepared to be a role model within their field, has experience and loves teaching children of all ages, and has extensive experience in their art form.The ideal candidate would include someone who enjoys working with young people and/or theatre for young audiences.These positions also require teaching classes within their art form to campers.Looking for teaching artists in a variety of theatrical, visual, performance, and any similar fields.Some include, but are not limited to visual arts, dance, acting, voice, stage combat, mime, stage makeup, puppetry, musical theatre, and costume and set design.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Providing and implementing age-appropriate camp curriculum within the teaching artists specified field, and able to lead large groups of campers in said class.
- Provide the supervisor appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience
- Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.
- Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to camp director.
- Participate in training, staff meetings, supervisory conferences, committees, and special events.Represent the JCC on appropriate staff committees and at interagency and professional conferences as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experienced within art form
- Several years of experience of teaching children ages 6-13
- Strong organization, communication, and collaboration, along with the ability to be flexible
- Energy and passion for working with youth and children in a recreational camp setting
- Comfortable with Jewish culture
- Ability and passion to create inclusive environments for all campers; Driven to acknowledge and respect all campers racial, cultural, and gender identities.
