What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Technician position at JCPenney?
Working under general supervision, the Forklift Technician performs support functions for mobile equipment or other material handling equipment in a retail merchandise supply chain facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The support mentioned above includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities.
- Maintains and repairs forklifts, pallet jacks, boom lifts, scissor lifts and personnel carts.
- Electronically logs scheduled inspection reports of the operating equipment, fixed building equipment and building structures, maintenance, repairs and other records and schedules.
- Adheres to all operational, loss prevention and safety standards which includes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assists other technicians in the performance of maintenance activities and/or provides training/guidance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and tools used in troubleshooting, repairing and testing all forms of mobile equipment.
- Basic experience using mobile equipment (refresher training upon hire)."
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Minimum high school diploma/GED equivalent
- Training and/or certification in material handling from an accredited technical school preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the maintenance of material handling equipment.
