Reporting to the VP, Strategic Philanthropic Initiatives, the AVP, Donor Engagement will provide the organization with strategic leadership in all matters related to donor stewardship, including the design and implementation of an integrated stewardship program that is comprehensive of donors at every level of giving across verticals. The AVP will be a leader and partner, internally and externally, helping to elevate JDRF’s donor experience through a strategic, collaborative and metrics-driven approach to all areas of responsibility. This position requires a strategic thinking with a thorough understanding of the donor experience with non-profit organizations, high attention to detail, experience navigating all points in the donor engagement cycle and strong relationship-building skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and executing comprehensive donor stewardship programs within a healthcare focused organization, strong strategic project management and delivery experience, a thorough understanding of donor engagement and events as well as an entrepreneurial, problem-solving mindset and an action-oriented spirit. This is a remote position open to candidates in the Central and Eastern Time Zone. Responsibilities Provide strategic design and direction in creating, implementing and enhancing JDRF’s donor experience that encompasses donor engagement, recognition, gift stewardship and accountability, and the creation of stewardship events, programs, and relationship-building activities. Provide overall strategic direction, including annual and long-term planning, for the Donor Experience team. Oversee the development and implementation of an integrated Donor Engagement Plan that deploys strategies, tactics and activities to optimize and unify the donor experience across individual giving, corporate and institutional giving and legacy giving. Assess through quantitative and qualitative analysis the metrics associated with donor experience to further enhance and revise programs and activities related to those larger strategies. Partner and serve as primary liaison with Marketing Communications and Strategic Fundraising Communications leadership to optimize strategies for philanthropic audiences, while maintaining alignment with overall marketing and branding efforts. In collaboration with direct reports and other leadership, regularly establish, update, communicate and train JDRF staff on policies, procedures, processes and best practices designed to support the optimal donor stewardship experience. Regularly track progress toward strategic goals, providing reports to VP, Strategic Philanthropic Initiatives as appropriate. Supervise and support direct reports including; oversee hiring and personnel decisions, establish performance goals and objectives, and support the professional development and training of all team members. Prepare and actively manage the annual budget for areas of responsibility. Qualifications 10 years of professional success in non-profit fundraising – specifically with stewardship and event strategies and 5 years preferred in a supervisory capacity. Experience building and executing donor stewardship programs in a healthcare setting A thorough understanding of the donor experience with non-profit organizations Experience navigating all points in the donor engagement cycle Track record of working effectively with volunteers and staff through effective persuasion and influencing techniques. Strong organizational skills. Ability to quickly address conflicts to achieve effective solutions. Excellent management, coaching, mentoring, leadership, and team-building skills. Ability to effectively establish priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and ability to meet deadlines under pressure. Strong background working with cross-functional teams to achieve unified goals. Superior active listening, observation, analytical, and problem recognition and solving skills. Ability to ensure the confidentiality and security of all information under their supervision. Experience in developing budgets. Excellent written, verbal, presentation/communication, and excellent relationship building skills. Proficient in MS Suite and Salesforce (or other CRM systems). Ability to travel at least 25% of the time, including overnight travel and weekends. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
