JOB SUMMARY: The Patient Care Associate - Telesitter (PCA) must possess a willingness to serve and exhibit the attitude and behaviors to fulfill the mission and philosophy of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital- Jefferson Health. The PCA is a member of the health care team who works under the supervision of a licensed professional by observing assigned patients and providing communication to keep those patients safe. The primary job function is to ensure the safety and well-being of a patient who is considered a danger, fall risk, or safety concern to him/herself.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Patient Care Associate - Telesitter is accountable for the following:
Capable of continuous monitoring of up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remaining at all times while on duty.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset
Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes.
Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff
Documentation on patient’s behavior throughout the shift
Basic computer operation skills
Basic Microsoft windows experience
Knowledge of medical terminology.
1 year of direct patient care experience required.
OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Practices safety at all times while performing job responsibilities and reports unsafe conditions when identified.
Practices patient confidentiality utilizing HIPAA standards.
EDUCATION:
High School education or equivalent.
Certification preferred (patient care technician, nurse assistant, medical assistant)
Behavioral health sciences interests or academic related areas preferred.
AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrates knowledge of age specific factors necessary to perform patient care responsibilities. Ages of the patients served: adolescent (14-18 years old), Adult (18-65 years old), Geriatric (65 ). Recognizes patient’s psychological development and modifies approaches for specific age groups.
Demonstrates knowledge of specific factors necessary to perform responsibilities of position (i.e. SCI, TBI, Stoke, etc.).
Patient communication techniques are age appropriate.
Recognizes psychological development and modifies approach to specific age groups.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Prolonged sitting. Sit to stand desk will be installed in room to allow the PCA to stand while working.

Follows all Magee policies and requirements for continued
Follows the following schedule for times to report to work and to leave work:
Day Shift: 6:30 am – 7:00 pm
Night Shift: 6:30 pm – 7:00 am
If you need to call out you need to do so 2 hours prior to your scheduled shift
Conditions of Employment
