Job Summary:
Respiratory students currently enrolled in a CoARC approved respiratory program will report to the Respiratory Manager and under the supervision of the Registered/Certified Respiratory Therapist (RT) will provide designated direct and indirect patient care activities and provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient operations. Patient population ranges from young adult through late adulthood.
Essential Functions:
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

- Performs designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs.
- Monitors, promotes and maintains a care environment that facilitates safe and effective patient care and reports any changes to the RT.
- Provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure efficient operations.
- Washes, cleans, dries and bags all non-disposable equipment for sterilization by Central Processing to provide effective infection control and to conform with department policy
- Performs pressure, volumes and EST checks on all ventilator types to ensure proper equipment function and preparation for use.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education:
Student currently enrolled in a CoARC accredited college respiratory program
AND
Experience:
Successful completion of Introductory Respiratory Care course, one medical surgical or general medical clinical rotation and successful completion of the skills labs associated with that rotation.
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
