JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Electrical Designer to join our growing team.
The Opportunity
As an Electrical Designer/Drafter, you will be responsible for assisting in the design and development of new and existing equipment and products. You will utilize computer aided design tools, to create product design drawings and supporting documentation. This will include coordination of specific aspects of a development project as directed by the Operations Engineer and/or Plant Manager. This role reports to the Operations Engineering Manager.
This position is onsite at our Towanda, PA facility.
What You Will Do
- Manage all projects assigned under the direction of the Operations Engineering Manager.
- Work in a team environment to create electrical assembly documentation for the projects they are assigned.
- Identify the requirements of product development projects on a per project basis and work through his/her support structure to fulfill those requirements.
- Participate in the Idea Screening Process.
- Build and troubleshoot R&D prototypes, as required.
- Communicate with suppliers as required.
- Review drawings and equipment change requests for accuracy.
- Assemble, organize, publish, and facilitate distribution of complete Specification Sets and Technical Manuals for all projects/products he/she is responsible for.
Who You Are
- Associates of Science degree (preferably in Electrical Design) or equivalent experience.
- Five to eight years of experience in electrical design for high volume manufacturing environment, including Machine Design and equipment layout drawings.
- Experience in 3D modeling (Autodesk Inventor preferred). Must understand GD&T principles and have the ability to apply them correctly.
- Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity/competency with the following concepts:
- Home or building products construction.
- Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis.
- Current Engineering Tools and Skills:
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Rapid Prototyping.
- Creative Concept Generation.
- Quality and performance testing:
- Reliability models.
- Correct and effective use of corporate approved CAD software. Working knowledge of GD&T principles. Ability to read technical drawings and prints.
- Ability to present recommendations to upper management using applicable computer software including MS Word and Excel is required.
- Ability to travel (up to 15%) in support of projects, manufacturing facilities, and suppliers.
- Fundamental engineering design methods for the creation of electrical components and assemblies.
