LEGAL ASSISTANT
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, this position would support the Company’s dispute resolution function by providing support to our litigation counsel and paralegal to include:
- Maintaining electronic files for litigated matters and pre-litigation claims
- Responsible for input of required data on all types of legal matters in the department’s case management software including creating and updating entries as matters develop
- Working directly with internal clients and external counsel to facilitate claim management
- Creating standard and customized reports based on data extracted from the company’s matter management and electronic billing platforms
- Coordinating discovery projects, including document collection and production efforts
- Coordinating calendars including scheduling meetings, arranging teleconferences, tracking deadlines etc. based on existing corporate priorities
- Providing administrative assistance including drafting, verifying, proofing, and processing various legal documents, pleadings, state/federal agency responses, contracts, briefs, and general correspondence
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience
- 3 years’ minimum experience in general litigation and legal support
- Advanced knowledge of matter management, e-discovery and e-billing software
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft applications:
- Excel – formulas (vlookup), pivot tables, filters, charts, etc.
- Word – formatting and editing documents and correspondence
- Outlook – email and calendaring systems
- PowerPoint – creating and editing presentations with graphics, tables and charts
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
