Role and Responsibilities
As the Jenni Kayne Home Buyer, your primary responsibilities include the following:
- Lead home and furniture assortment expansion for a fast-growing category with strong understanding of Jenni Kayne brand, sales and margin drivers, marketing focuses, Ecom and retail store feedback and market trends.
- Develop Jenni Kayne home product strategy to maximize retail sales and gross margin opportunity. Work with Director of Production (Home) and other team members to develop home and furniture product that will meet target KPIs while building out a well-rounded assortment.
- Build home and furniture SKU plans to pass to production and design seasonally or annually as needed.
- Understand Jenni Kayne business strategy and create effective assortment by season, product line and style. Review carryforward merchandise including core assortment and develop new product that enhances brand concepts and offerings.
- Maintain home and furniture buy plan on a style, color and size level to manage quantities, deliveries, etc.
- Create, update and distribute visual product deck to communicate current assortment as well as new goods including estimated launch dates to wider team.
- Work with Ecom, Marketing, and Stores teams to effectively manage product receipt calendar, ensuring merchandise is processed and released to stores in line with established launch dates.
- Actively collaborate with Marketing Team to ensure all key investments and concepts are effectively supported through storytelling and content including in digital ads, newsletters, video, social pushes, homepage features, Rip & Tan content and all other avenues.
- Work with Production Team to build effective buy calendar with key dates specific to furniture; implement home buying processes, procedures, and best practices; lead and participate in all key meetings including Hindsight, Product Walk Through, Investment Review, Fast Sell and Store Visits. Lead team dialogue around seasonal concept, assortment strategy, and monthly rollouts.
- React to in-season business highlights and execute re-orders, cancellations, or swaps as needed. Work with Ecom, Marketing, and Stores teams to suggest marketing initiatives to drive revenue.
- Report on Home business weekly speaking to both sales and inventory levels. Provide end of season analysis each quarter and make recommendations for additions to CORE, drops, etc.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 3-4 years home and furniture buying experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Netsuite, Dataself, and Springboard a plus
- Knowledge of basic retail math formulas and calculations
- Ability to multi task, meet deadlines and ensure accurate completion of assigned tasks
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Motivated and experienced working with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
