Summary:
Greets/directs visitors in a courteous manner; receives/routes telephone calls using name/title; records/delivers messages
Places calls to physicians, healthcare providers, and other external customers; provides clear, concise information as directed
Operates intercom and/or radio communication systems; responds promptly to requests, relays messages, prepares/maintains documentation
Reviews patient charts: documentation; chart is in order; charges are prepared; locates charts from prior admissions, as required
Transcribes physician's orders; communicates information to initiate the orders
Assists with patient transfer and/or discharge arrangements; prepares and/or copies the patient's chart
Transcribes physicians' orders; communicates information to initiate orders
Maintains department files, logs, manuals, bulletin boards, and office supplies available in the department
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school graduate or equivalency
Unit Clerk certificate or related experience in the medical field preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to set priorities, organize work, and function efficiently without direct supervision
Ability to function in a calm, efficient manner during emergency situations
Work is of light demand. Routine lifting requirements up to 25 pounds. Standing, sitting, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling or lifting may be required
