The Program Manager, Immigration Legal Services provides oversight of HIAS Immigration & Citizenship’s immigration legal services program; files applications for immigrant benefits including, but not limited to, Temporary Protected Status, Adjustment of Status, Naturalization, DACA Renewal, and Family-Based Petitions; and supervises three DOJ Accredited Representatives.
Responsibilities
Legal Services and Support:

• Assess individuals’ eligibility for immigration benefits at consultations.
• Assist individuals with the completion of the appropriate applications, including but not limited to family petitions, consular processing, adjustment of status, TPS, DACA Renewal, and naturalization.
• Provide case management for immigration applicants including but not limited to maintaining client files, drafting cover letters, preparing application packets, and reviewing case files.
• Follow up on pending case work and maintain communication with clients via phone, email, or mail regarding missing documentation necessary for submission of application.
• Respond to all phone calls and email inquiries on immigration issues in a timely manner.

Program Management:

• Plan, monitor and evaluate effectiveness of program activities and implement best practices.
• Assess when and whether new services or initiatives are warranted and support the development of these services and initiatives if approved.
• Collect and maintain program data and prepare clear and concise reports.
• Provide supervision of other DOJ Accredited Representatives.

Other:

• Represent JCFS Chicago and the HIAS Immigration & Citizenship program in the community.
• Assist with outreach and education initiatives, including facilitating programs including but not limited to Path to Citizenship and DACA Renewal.
• In partnership with HIAS Immigration & Citizenship’s Outreach & Education Specialist, coordinate logistics for any legal workshops.
• Participate in on-going immigration trainings and other professional development.

• *Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree plus previous or current DOJ Accreditation.
• At least 5 years of experience working in immigration legal services preferred; experience filing applications for TPS, DACA Renewal, Family Petitions, Adjustment of Status, Naturalization required.
• At least 2 years of program management and/or supervision experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills which ensure multiple competing priorities are addressed and completed in a strategic and thoughtful manner.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and planning skills.
• Must be proactive, a self-starter with a solution-oriented mindset, and a willingness to take initiative.
• Ability to work, interact and communicate effectively with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients and the public.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Fluency in a second language preferred.

New hires would need to be fully vaccinated with 1 or 2 doses and booster and provide their card upon hire OR begin receiving the booster within 2 weeks of being hired and participate in weekly COVID testing until fully vaccinated OR provide documentation for an ADA or religious exemption and participate in weekly COVID testing.
