What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geriatric Social Worker (part time or full time) position at Jewish Community Center?
Samost Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) of Southern New Jersey is looking for a Geriatric Social Worker, for three to five days per week, to provide social work services to maintain and improve functioning of senior clients and their families in accordance with Senior Services policies, procedures and goals, as well as coordinate with other appropriate community resources to enhance client/family care.
Our licensed professionals assist clients at every stage of life with a wide range of issues that include separation and divorce, bereavement, depression, anxiety, and chronic mental illness. JFCS also provides services to seniors, and those with Special Needs. In addition, JFCS offers programs and services for Holocaust survivors, individuals and families coping with addictions, domestic abuse situations, and community members in need of food, resources, vocational and financial assistance, as well as our Volunteer Program. Support groups and community conferences offer coping strategies that help prevent smaller problems from becoming larger; and help individuals, couples, and families learn new and effective ways of dealing with the challenges and transitions in their lives. JFCS offers a convenient location with daytime and evening hours.
Master Social Worker (MSW or equivalent) to provide in-office and home-based care coordination, consultations and ongoing case management services, as well as facilitation of groups with senior individuals and family members. Prior experience with geriatric population is preferred, along with knowledge of Jewish customs and values. The candidate will work a schedule of between 21-35 hours per week between Monday thru Friday.
