The Refugee Intake Specialist will play a key role in helping newly-arrived refugees to successfully achieve self-sufficiency.
Position Summary:
The Refugee Intake Specialist is responsible for ensuring administrative functions related to program intake and data entry are documented and reported in accordance with funding and agency guidelines. This position is responsible for scheduling and completing program enrollment for eligible adults seeking employment assistance and/or case management support, and tracking activity participation on a weekly and monthly basis. Additionally, the position provides information, assistance, and referrals to refugee clients beginning their employment search as they begin to rebuild their lives.
Qualifications:
▪ Previous experience working with refugee or immigrant social services preferred.▪ Must be sensitive to cultural differences of clients and staff from diverse backgrounds.▪ Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and CRM experience.▪ Top level organizational, written/oral communication, and problem-solving skills.▪ Ability to multitask and work under strict deadlines.▪ A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in social work, education, or related field.▪ Bilingual language skills are a plus (especially in Arabic, Haitian Creole, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, or Ukrainian).▪ Ability to work as part of a team, including with case workers, employment developers, interpreters and others.▪ Reliable transportation required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
▪ Conduct intake and enrollment for new clients in a timely manner and consistent with funding and program requirements.▪ Comfortability using interpretation services, as needed.▪ Responsible for monitoring client activity participation through weekly tracking and data entry.▪ Assist with follow up of employed clients at specific times (ex. 30, 60, 90 days) to track retention progress.▪ Responsible for completion of semi-annual Family Self-Sufficiency Plan (FSSP) check-ups for all clients.▪ Assist with the completion of departmental and program reports on refugee employment outcomes.▪ Coordinate client assignments and case flows across the refugee employment team.▪ Troubleshoot issues related to client participation and record keeping across various programs.▪ Maintain accurate written and electronic records in accordance with funding and agency requirements.▪ Prepare case notes on all contacts with or on behalf of clients in a timely manner.▪ Participate in departmental staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.▪ Attend local, regional and national employment meetings and refugee resettlement conferences as needed.▪ Assume other related duties as assigned.
