We are seeking an exceptionally talented Purchasing Estimator to join our purchasing team and help support our rapid growth. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is a great communicator, resourceful, hungry, organized and thrives in fast-paced / high growth environments.

What you’ll be doing
Our Estimator helps support the overall strategy of our Purchasing Department. Our Estimator will assist the purchasing department and our construction staff by ensuring the accuracy of new and existing material takeoffs.

You will be responsible for…
  • Develop, prepare, and maintain whole house foundation to completion plan take-offs (material count) on the computer
  • Perform field visits for takeoff validations, as needed
  • Review and research takeoff variance to consistently calculate takeoff accuracy progression
  • Monitor, verify and update all takeoff change requests from construction managers and Purchasing
  • Estimate and analyze new plans and elevations including all plan options
  • Create and maintain house plan budgets including quantity estimates
  • Maintains resource information on products, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Manage all material and production takeoffs
  • Data entry and verification of estimates
  • Review change orders for takeoff accuracy and process for construction
  • Adjust/correct purchase order takeoffs in a timely manner
  • Input takeoff cost data into company data base and reviews the input for accuracy
  • Maintains benchmarking data. Review current takeoff discrepancies and research issues where quotes exceed budgets
  • Seeks opportunities to control costs while maintaining high quality standards
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with trades, communicating effectively regarding construction issues
  • Partner with construction team to investigate, recalculate, code, and resolve construction variances
  • Support active home construction activities working directly with Construction Managers, Trade Partners and Purchasing

What qualifications you’ll bring to us

  • Ability to estimate accurate material/labor quantities on all building related items

  • Be able to read and understand blueprints

  • Proficient utilizing Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook

What experience you’ll bring to us
  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in residential construction management preferred
  • 3 years of construction experience required with a homebuilding and/or remodeling company
  • 3 years’ experience as a residential estimator, estimating or cost control required
  • Knowledge of CAD, PlanSwift, Hyphen, and Newstar preferred

What type of work environment you will be working in
This position operates in a professional office environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax. This position must work well in a team oriented, fast paced setting and can handle interruptions while maintaining productivity and accuracy. If traveling, employee may be exposed to weather conditions.
