Construction Estimator

JL Schwieters, a family-owned, Manufacturing/Construction Industry leader for 40 years located in Hugo, MN is seeking to fill the role of Estimator. This position is open to all levels, entry or experienced in estimation or a role in construction. Training in Planswift as needed.

Essential & Primary Duties and Responsibilities

· Review blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work for wood-framed construction

· Interpret blueprints for projects ranging from single family homes to large apartment buildings

· Prepare estimates for labor or material (TBD) utilizing Planswift construction software and Microsoft Excel

· Review projects with fellow estimators and sales associates

· Send quote requests to vendors as needed

· Assist in preparing terms and conditions for estimates

· Update and revise bids as necessary

Qualifications:

• A 2-year degree or related field experience in: wood framing, construction, or similar estimating experience. Construction experience preferred but not necessary.
• Knowledge of building material products.
• Understanding of the construction process.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints in an architectural related industry.
• Experience with Estimating software preferred, Planswift is a plus.
• Ability to take on multiple responsibilities in a proficient manner.
• Professional written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team setting, accepting instruction/direction from other team members.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office 365.
• Self Motivated.
• Clean Background is a must.

General Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm
Pay: $45,000-$55,000 DOE.
