What this job involves:
- As a construction Inspector, you will be required to conduct inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure that the building and construction site complies with safety, structural, and building code regulations.
- You will perform Construction Administration duties, inclusive of, but not limited to Quality Assurance and Quality Control measures, construction progress observation, field report preparation, construction schedule analysis, and validation of construction pay applications.
- Verify that construction conforms to Construction Documents, ASI’s and CCR’s via comprehensive Submittal reviews. Review and assist with responses for RFI’s. Review and analyze Change proposal costs for approvals.
- Attend scheduled Project meetings, including review of meeting minute, logs, and reports for accurate summary of key issues.
- Provides assistance and verifies alternate methods of construction to meet the intent of each related code.
- Provides assistance to architects, engineers, and contractors concerning mechanical, electrical and plumbing issues and designs.
- Reviews assigned construction plans for mechanical, electrical and plumbing components to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and recommends method of compliance to meet the intent of each related item.
- Documents results of inspections.
- Effectively communicates findings to Owners and contractors.
- Assist with the coordination of third-party service providers (Surveyors, Geotechnical Engineers, Structural Design Peer Review, FFE installation assistance, Public Art coordination, Cx Agent, TAB, Materials Testing & Inspection and other services as required).
- Track and verify the resolution of all A/E and Owner punch list items.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Must have ICC Certification(s)
- Minimum 10 years experience
- Higher Education/Healthcare experience highly desirable
EDUCATION/TRAINING
- Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
- 10 years of relevant experience with healthcare projects in a construction inspector or similar role. Must have experience with healthcare or higher education projects over $25M.
- Demonstrates knowledge of construction, architecture, and the commercial real estate industry.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with healthcare projects is required.
- Experience being an Owner’s Representative is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with internal & external clients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally at all times.
- Highly organized & detailed-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage differing needs of the business.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity and professionalism.
- Experience with Microsoft Project preferred
- Assumes complete responsibility for assignments of heavy complexity and continues to aggressively improve skill base.
- Ability to work in client’s preferred project management software solution(s)
- Position requires employee to visit active job sites with daily client and contractor interaction.
- Daily interpersonal interaction is required in order to perform the job.
