What are the responsibilities and job description for the Busser position at JO Restaurant Group?
Summary: Bus people are considered service assistants. They support the wait staff and managers in maintaining the dining room in preparation for serving our guests. They may assist the servers with water service, bread service and clearing as long as their first priority of bussing and resetting tables is complete.
Job Duties:
- Clear dirty tables quietly and unobtrusively, checking floor for linen, dropped utensils and debris, wiping and realigning chairs properly to the table
- Reset with clean, unstained linen (tablecloths where applicable and cloth napkins or roll-ups), placing flatware and glassware appropriately always handling by the stems and handles; and centerpieces in proper positions
- Deliver water to the table when requested by a server and assist server in pouring throughout the guest experience
- Never replace bottled water without server or guests approval
- Communicates immediately to server any bottled water replaced at guests request to ensure that the product appears on the check
- Set-up and bake bread (where applicable), conscious of waste, cooking only what is required for expected number of guests
- Bring bread and bread condiments to the guest if assigned always before any other food
is brought to the table - Communicates with hostess or manager to reset tables efficiently coordinating with scheduled reservations or waiting guests
- Assist server in removing full and dirty trays from dining room
- Assist servers in pre-bussing between courses
- Assist dishwasher by properly clearing and stacking plates and separating glassware and silverware into assigned racks and bins
- Assists servers and runners in carrying food from the kitchen
- Clean and stock bus-stations before and after shift with linen, glassware, plates and flatware
- Maintain a polished, professional appearance
- Maintain a respectful and cooperative relationship with all other employees
- Side duties include: changing trash bins and linen bags, replacing stock, cleaning and maintaining all aspects of the restaurant
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Outgoing, pleasant personality, and a desire to please guests
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for 8 hours
- Ability to work in a team environment
