Summary of Lab Supervisor
We are looking for a Lab Supervisor for a local Primary Care facility. This supervisor will be planning, organizing, controlling and directing daily operations of the lab. This position will require you to supervise staff, communicate with patients, physicians, staff and other internal and external contacts.
The Lab Supervisor will need to promote and maintain goals and objectives of the company while representing the facility in a positive manner, with professional attitude and appearance at all times.
Preference for RMA or MLT.
Working Conditions of Lab Supervisor
- 20% sitting. 80% mobility.
- Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Also, reaching use of hands, repetitive actions.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50lbs; pushing/pulling up to 150lbs.
- Clear diction and hearing sensitivity. There is constant conversation over phone and in person.
- Visual Acuity at close and distant range.
- Busy environment with distractions and interruptions.
- Multitasking required.
- Potential exposure to electrical shock
- Inside work; minimal exposure to outside elements.
Essential Job Functions of Lab Supervisor
- Schedule and oversee maintenance, adjustment, calibration of lab instruments/apparatus/testing devices
- Perform biological, hermatological, chemical, or physical analysis and determinations.
- Exercise independent authority and responsibilities for assigned areas.
- Serve as recognized expert and provide technical assistance to other staff.
- Perform physical, bacteriological, chemical, serological tests on samples. (blood, sputum, urine, etc...)
- Operate, adjust, maintain instruments (EKG, PFT, Vital machine, Beckman Coulter machine, etc...)
- Follow required aseptic techniques
- Send labs and paperwork out
- Collect and analyze blood specimens
- Perform blood counts (red cell, hemoglobin, differential, platelet, etc...)
- Complete urinalysis (qualitative and quantitative)
- Carry out biochemical analyses and determinations (liver function, thyroid function, blood sugars, renal function, cardiac function)
Qualifications of Lab Supervisor
- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent AND Certification in phlebotomy and/or lab experience
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in medical office laboratory
- Knowledge, skills, abilities:
Understanding of lab in a medical office
Detail oriented
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks, assignments, and deadlines simultaneously
Ability to think independently and use good judgment for situations which require initiative and ingenuity
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate tactfully and effectively with all internal and external customers
Ability to work with co-workers, clients, management in a positive and cooperative manner
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
