What we’re looking for:
While we look to find creative solutions for our clients through negotiation and mediation, we are a full litigation law firm. We are not afraid to take a case to court. We are looking for an associate who is focused on finding the right solution for the client even if that means taking the case to trial.
Our associate attorney will meet with potential new clients as well as established clients. It’s important that you be personable, as making the best first impression is critical. Our associate attorney will handle their own docket of clients, and will have the skills to manage all aspects of a family law litigation case including drafting and editing pleadings, all phases of discovery, witness preparation, and client management.
The right person for this position will be an attentive and empathetic listener, an excellent communicator, and understand customer service. Attention to detail, and ability to ask the right questions are also critical skills. You must be compassionate toward our clients but also know when to be an advocate for them and when to tell them something they don’t want to hear. We have a great team culture, so it’s important that someone be proactive, helpful, and willing to pitch in where needed.
What you’ll be doing (Depending on your experience):
Ultimately, the goal is for you to handle your own case docket. You will manage a client’s case from beginning to end while maintaining a high level of client communication and satisfaction. You will be responsible for managing your clients and your case docket. You will NOT be required to bring in new clients on your own, or produce leads for new clients.
Responsibilities include:
Acting as first point of contact with retained client once your case docket is established
Proactively and efficiently managing case docket of clients from beginning to end
Documenting case progress following firm processes
Reviewing and analyzing client documents and document production
Reviewing staff-generated pleadings and other office documents
Meeting with supervising attorneys to regularly share information and define strategy
Sitting first chair on family law hearings and trials
Providing basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
Participating in marketing & networking activities/events to promote the law firm
Sitting in and learning how to conduct initial consultations
Communicating and working with paralegals and other staff in a professional and personable manner
Skills Required:
Excellent communication skills: speaking, listening, and writing
Experience with Apple products (MacOS)
Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
Excellent organizational skills
Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
Able to quickly and accurately type on a keyboard and succinctly document conversations
Organize and properly document potential client cases as they move through stages of qualification and payment;
Interest and experience in customer relationship management software and spreadsheets
Experience with programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Clio, MacOS, and Google Apps
Experience Required:
1 Years as a Family Law Attorney
License/Certification:
State Bar of Texas Attorney License (Preferred)
