Job Details
Our company is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Systems Control Engineer to join our team. As an Instrumentation and Systems Control Engineer, you will be responsible for performing specialized engineering work associated with the maintenance of computerized process control, data acquisition, and/or data transmission for water plant production and distribution systems. You will work under the general supervision of the Manager, Instrumentation and Systems Control, and will be expected to evaluate various plant processes and operations for control scheme and network optimization and troubleshoot process control and network malfunctions.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate plant processes and operations for control scheme and network optimization
Troubleshoot process control and network malfunctions
Maintain existing control and network strategies and recommend modifications to the manager
Maintain the control and historical databases
Maintain system hardware, including both preventive maintenance and emergency repair
Assist in administering system security tasks
Maintain network infrastructures, including routing, switching, encryption, wireless, network management, and network security
Maintain accurate system documentation
Train and instruct all DCS and SCADA users
Coordinate technical work of the Instrumentation Technicians associated with process control and data acquisition
Perform periodic system backups and conduct essential data archive functions
Maintain and repair associated field instrumentation
Perform other duties as assigned or required
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and five years of experience in engineering, process control, and/or networking; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
E.I.T. Certification preferred
Good knowledge of communication systems, using radio, phone, and fiber optics, and distributed control systems
Knowledge of the theory and practice of the design, processes, and operation of public water supply facilities
Good knowledge of process instrumentation, process control techniques, field sensors and controllers, digital control hardware including Programmable Logic Controllers, Relay Ladder Logic and control software and/or networking hardware
Experience with computer hardware and software
Ability to coordinate the work of others
Good verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to report for after-hour emergencies requiring onsite response for problem resolution
Possession of a valid driver's license and good driving record
Must pass a controlled substance (drug) test for employment
