The Controls Engineers contributes to our mission of instilling confidence through exceptional automation solutions by providing expert-level engineering, designing, programming, troubleshooting, and consultative services that ensure success in every project Controls Engineers will be responsible for working with members of our manufacturing, application engineering, sales teams, and customers alike to provide our clients with customized automated solutions, designed, built, installed, and integrated to the highest standards.
Responsibilities: The Controls Engineers have the following responsibilities and duties:
- Creates, modifies, and maintains electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical for UL508 Panel Shop
- Support UL508A Panel Shop Wireman with component and configuration directions throughout panel build process
- Programming from scratch and modification of PLCs, HMIs, Servo Drives, VFDs, Vision Systems, and other automation components for new equipment (Omron, AB, or Mitsubishi preferred)
- Hardware and Software troubleshooting
- Start-up support and on-site commissioning of new control systems
- Field Engineering support for retrofit and upgrade projects
- Lead Electricians on field installation projects
- Work with Machine Builders and OEMs through Electrical Design, Programming, and Commission phases of projects
- Support Panel Shop Wireman with component and configuration directions during panel builds
- Travel to customers for design reviews, project start-ups, and troubleshooting support
- Travel is typically 5-10% overnight and 20-60% local
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering Technology
- or 2 year related technical degree plus 3 years of working experience as a Controls Engineer
- or 5 years of Controls Engineering related work experience
- Must have at least 3 years of PLC and HMI programming experience
- Microsoft Office Experience
- Must be self-driven and have ability to work through projects with minimal supervision
