Job Details

Financial Controller
The Financial Controller, reporting directly to the CFO, plays a pivotal role in overseeing the administrative, financial, and risk management operations. This position encompasses developing financial and operational strategy metrics and continuously enhancing control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and/or working with vendors, contractors, and subcontractors with Percentage of Completion accounting (PoC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute timely month-end closures, bank, and trustee engagements to meet critical deadlines.
  • Initiate the setup of new state operations and implement account procedures and software during acquisitions.
  • Spearhead cost-reduction initiatives to align the Company with net operating income objectives.
  • Provide crucial support to management decision-making by delivering timely, accurate, and actionable financial insights.
  • Foster and enhance relationships with financial institutions, ensuring strict adherence to bank covenants.
  • Establish and enforce a comprehensive system of financial policies and procedures.
  • Exercise oversight over financial operations, encompassing expense control, cost management, margin analysis, financial reporting, forecasting, bank covenant monitoring, audit and tax management, cost-benefit analysis, and legal compliance.
  • Meet all reporting deadlines, including Trustee, Bank, and Monthly Closing Reports.
  • Monitor financial performance by systematically measuring and analyzing results, initiating necessary corrective actions, and mitigating variances' impact.
  • Develop and maintain written financial protocols, software procedures, policies, workflow documentation, and dashboards tailored for organizational acquisitions.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of internal training materials relating to existing or emerging accounting standards.
  • Maximize returns on invested funds by identifying viable investment opportunities and cultivating relationships within the investment community.
  • Review all month-end closing activities, including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, corporate/overhead cost allocations, and provide analytical insights to enhance future business performance.
  • Leverage company systems for data analysis and propose and implement positive changes based on insights.
  • Prepare schedules for auditors during the annual review and tax return preparation.
  • Monitor performance and cost metrics for all locations.
  • Oversee cash balances and forecasts, while maintaining responsibility for debt and financing.
  • Ensure unwavering compliance with all company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is mandatory; an advanced degree and/or CPA designation is required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a financial management position is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience directly or indirectly related to one or more in the construction industry working with customers, suppliers, or competitors. In particular, experience with percentage of completion accounting.
  • Profound knowledge of budgeting, sales, business development, and strategic planning.

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding problem-solving abilities when addressing financial and management challenges.
