We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Preconstruction/Estimator to join our team. This is a permanent position, offering an exciting opportunity to be involved in the preconstruction phase of a diverse range of construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, managing project budgets, and coordinating with project teams to ensure smooth project execution. This role is perfect for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Responsibilities
1. Conduct preliminary project evaluations and feasibility studies to determine project viability and potential construction methods.
2. Prepare detailed cost estimates at various stages of project design, from conceptual to detailed design.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
4. Coordinate with project management teams to develop project schedules and identify potential risks.
5. Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
6. Participate in proposal presentations and client meetings.
7. Evaluate subcontractor bids and make recommendations to the project team.
8. Review design documents for potential cost savings and constructability issues.
9. Manage and track changes in scope of work and prepare change orders as necessary.
10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project data in the company's estimating software.
Qualifications
1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management in the construction industry.
2. Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is required.
3. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
4. Proficiency in using estimating software and other relevant computer applications.
5. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
6. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
8. Knowledge of local, state, and federal building code requirements.
9. Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
10. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, vendors, and clients.
11. Professional certification in estimating or project management is a plus.
