Our Project Estimators are responsible for preparing, interpreting, and presenting project estimates while ensuring bid packages and project scopes adhere to our quality standards.
Your Responsibilities:
Collaboration: Interact professionally, honestly, and with a focus on relationships when dealing with subcontractors, Architects, Engineers, and Owners. Provide constructability and cost data opinions with a comprehensive understanding of project specifics.
Project Analysis: Conduct a thorough review of project specifications and drawings, actively participating in pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and estimate requirements.
Estimate Preparation: Skillfully prepare estimates by identifying labor, material, and time requirements through a meticulous study of proposals, plans, specifications, and addendums.
Takeoff: Perform detailed takeoffs for all trades, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of the project scope.
Market Insight: Obtain multiple bids from subcontractors and suppliers, specifying materials and identifying qualified subcontractors to assess market value. Evaluate subcontractor bids, making informed assumptions for fair comparisons and resolving cost discrepancies through meticulous analysis.
Cost Management: Balance project vision with cost considerations, offering value engineering solutions to keep projects within established budgets.
Scope: Descope and review proposals with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure comprehensive scopes of work at optimal value for our Owners. Coordinate with fellow estimators to eliminate scope gaps, fostering teamwork in project estimation.
Negotiation: Negotiate and purchase subcontracts based on complete scopes of work, providing well-informed purchase recommendations.
Presentation: Assemble and present estimates with precision, incorporating numerical and descriptive information.
Contract Oversight: Follow awarded contracts, estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, and procuring materials as needed.
Documentation Management: Maintain organized files of working documents as a backup for estimates, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
Generate Interest: Create enthusiasm about the project in the construction industry and secure preferred pricing.
Teamwork: Play a crucial role in the estimating team for each project, typically working collaboratively with two other estimators.
Your Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related engineering discipline preferred, or relevant experience.
1-3 years of Construction Estimating experience.
Prior experience with Smart Bid, Procore, Destini, and Bluebeam preferred.
Knowledge of construction (technology, equipment, methods), design, and budget management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic.
Ability to navigate specifications and plans.
Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects.
Ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
Close attention to detail.
A positive attitude and a commitment to delivering exceptional results for clients.
Personal commitment to safety, integrity, and continual professional development.
Ability to use estimating software, advanced take-off tools, and various other computer programs.
