Job Details
As a small development team, the Data Engineer will be working to implement new solutions to transform data capabilities. You'll take full ownership of the data engineering strategy and modernize our data pipelines and infrastructure to deliver industry-leading solutions for our customers.
What You'll Do:
While maintenance and enhancement of current infrastructure is part of what you will do here, responsibilities also include:
- Defining and maintaining our data architecture strategy
- Cross-functionally collaborating with stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage big data technologies to make analytics faster, more insightful, and more efficient.
- Designing highly scalable data platforms which enable the collection, storage, modeling, and analysis of data sets from numerous channels
- Providing technology and process recommendations based on business relevance, with appropriate timing and deployment
- Enabling big data and batch/real-time analytical solutions that leverage emerging technologies
- Developing prototypes and proof of concepts for the selected solutions, and implementing complex big data projects
- Fostering an environment that encourages education and mentorship
- Actively contributing to our agile team process, with daily stand-up discussions, weekly sprint planning, retrospective processes, and quarterly planning
What Skills You'll Need:
- BS, MS, or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field is preferred
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or any big data frameworks on Spark
- Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL Databases and hands-on query tuning/optimization
- Experience working on data projects and data management involving querying databases and/or modernizing legacy data solutions
- Experience building automated big data pipelines
- Experience performing data analysis and data exploration
- 3 years of experience delivering data solutions using open-source languages
- 5 years of experience utilizing scripting languages
- 5 years of experience developing ETL solutions
- 5 years of experience utilizing SQL in complex solutions
- 4 years of experience developing, deploying, and testing in AWS public cloud
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
- Ability to break down and solve complex problems
- Self-starter - you should be able to hit the ground running with little direction
