Job Details
Our company is seeking a seasoned and dynamic VP of Construction with a focus on Highrise projects in the Engineering industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of overseeing and delivering large scale projects, specifically those with a value of $80 million or more. This is a high-level leadership role that requires strategic thinking, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the construction industry. The VP of Construction will be responsible for the overall management, direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects. This role requires 5 years of experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all phases of construction projects from initial planning and foundation to completion and turnover, ensuring that projects are completed within the set timeline and budget.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for the construction department in line with the company's mission and core values.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of construction managers and engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance, and ethical behavior.
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and government entities.
- Review and approve contracts and cost estimates, negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure all construction projects are in compliance with design specifications and all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and control project quality, health & safety measures, and KPI’s.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on the progress of projects, potential risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role within the construction industry, specifically with highrise projects.
- Proven track record of managing construction projects valued at $80 million or more.
- Excellent leadership and human resources management skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex contracts.
- Proficient in construction industry software and project management tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong understanding of construction procedures, material and project management principles.
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.
- Professional certification such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) will be an advantage.
