Psychologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The psychologist is responsible for assessing individuals' mental and emotional health through conducting interviews, tests, and observations.
- They diagnose psychological disorders and issues based on their assessments and observations.
- Providing counseling and therapy sessions to help individuals overcome challenges and improve their overall well-being is a key responsibility.
- Conducting research to advance understanding of human behavior and develop new treatment methods is integral to the psychologist's role.
- They shall participate in professional development activities to stay updated on the latest research, techniques, and ethical guidelines.
- The psychologist ensures confidentiality and privacy of client information is paramount in the practice of psychology.
- Maintaining a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services is expected.
- Practicing aseptic techniques as necessary and complying with infectious waste disposal and universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection are essential.
- Performing efficiently in emergency patient situations, following established protocols, remaining calm, and informing appropriate persons while documenting events is crucial.
- Attending and/or complying with all annual training classes is mandatory.
- Attending and participating in various meetings as directed is necessary.
- The psychologist maintains documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives and preparing such records and reports as may be required is mandatory.
- Degree: Must have a PhD or PsyD.
- Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the American Psychology Association with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
- Experience: Need at least one year of full-time experience in the last two years working with patients diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), meeting clinical competency requirements.
- Internship/Residency: Successfully complete an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
- Licensure: Must hold a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or US Virgin Islands.
