What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor II position at John Crane?
This position is responsible for the overall productivity and personnel management of his or her individual department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Help develop and then implement plans to meet plant and area objectives including staffing and hours planning, equipment needs, processes, tooling, etc.
- Accountable for compliance with company expectations regarding quality, customer satisfaction, safety, and costs.
- Responsible for maintaining order and discipline in area.
- Encourages teamwork within department and promoting teamwork with other areas of the company.
- Responsible for the employees’ overall performance. This includes recommending discipline of his or her direct employees, participating in the hiring process and dealing with department attendance.
- Responsible for the proper and effective training on processes, equipment, jobs, etc.
- Responsible for the on-boarding and initial training of all new employees.
- Assist employees in troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Responsible for job assignments, assigning priorities, making plans to meet production schedules.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining improvements such as:
- Safety Improvements
- Quality Improvements
- Cost reductions
- Set up reductions
- Tooling improvements
- Tooling cost reductions
- Responsible for maintaining 5S in the area.
- Assist with cycle counting in the area.
- Works towards the resolution of customer complaints or problems review customer complaints or returned materials and initiates corrective actions to preclude recurrences.
- Material handler as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

The Individual
- Associates Degree or equivalent education and experience
- 2-5 years’ experience in manufacturing leadership roles.
- Requires a self-starter that is innovative, has a sense of urgency and is mature.
- Technical experience required includes machine operation and set-up principles, tooling requirements, understand machine controls, and utilize ERP and MRP systems.
- Some experience with training and development of production associates will be a plus.
- Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistent with supporting the Company’s goals.
- Lifting guidelines in accordance with the Manual Lifting Guidelines noted in the Safety Handbook.
- Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company’s environmental performance goals.
- Complete, and actively participate in all other EHS training requirements
