What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Editor position at John McNeil Studio?
John McNeil Studio is looking for a Junior Video Editor. We are a creative marketing company made up of a collection of diverse skill sets: strategists, writers, designers, filmmakers, technologists, and photographers who help brands reinvent themselves through digital transformation. We are founded in aesthetics but also in utility and we make things that make brands thrive.
We’re looking for a Junior Editor who’s experienced in commercial video post production and has a passion for telling stories through the craft of filmmaking. The ideal candidate has a balance of artistic sensibilities and technical skills, with a hunger to grow both. As a part of the studio you’ll have to opportunity to cut broadcast commercials, social content, and everything in-between.
Responsibilities
- Editing in Premiere, from ingesting footage through to final exports
- Making cut-downs of existing edits
- Assisting senior editors with footage ingestion, logging, and file management
- Audio mixing
- Create exports and prep final versions of videos for client delivery; that includes various formats appropriate to web, broadcast, social, gifs, banners, etc.
- Basic Color Grading with Davinci Resolve & Premiere
- Ensuring that projects are prepped for archiving.
- Matching motion graphics assets to live action footage.
Qualifications:
- Experience working as an editor or assistant editor in a commercial video production facility
- Understanding of commercial post-production workflows, best practices, tools, software, file formats, etc.
- Experience with sound recording, design, music composition, and final mixing a plus
- Experience working in production on set is a plus (camera, sound, G&E, etc)
- Familiarity with the rest of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Audition, Illustrator etc.) in order to make minor changes and updates
- Flexibility and an ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Strong work ethic
- Can work independently and with a team
- College degree in related field or relevant work experience
