The Radiology department supports a full range of services with specialties in cancer care with the Sarah Cannon Institute and the Gamma Knife Center. The department is instrumental to maintaining TJC Comprehensive Stroke certification and Level III Trauma Center status.

Neurodiagnostic Manager

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the overall daily function/staffing of the Neurodiagnostic Labs at Chippenham and Johnston-Willis campus. Including the completion of monthly work schedules and "on call" schedules.
  • Coordinates dual campus operations to ensure efficient operations.
  • Reports to the Director of Neuroscience Program and assists in the strategy operational planning to promote staff/physician satisfaction, new procedure implementations and departmental growth.
  • Performs routine, sleep and portable EEGs, ECI, EMG/NCV and EP studies on adult and pediatric patients according to Policies and Procedures.
  • Compiles reports to communicate test result to referring physicians by chart notation and/or oral report of preliminary findings. Transmits final evaluation according to policy and procedure.
  • Obtains pertinent patient history, including screening for neurological and psychological disease, making decisions regarding appropriate testing modalities for optimum evaluation by chart review, patient history and or family interview, and by communication with physician or other health care providers.
  • Interprets exam results to quantitate the extent of patient's disease by utilizing established diagnostic parameters and standards of practice for neurodiagnostic technologists.
  • Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate patient education documentation modalities. Teaches patients about neurological disease to increase patient knowledge of disease process. Refers questions regarding complications and treatment modalities to the patient's physician.
  • Pursues professional development to prepare for additional responsibilities and improve current job performance via educational meetings, independent study, and maintaining appropriate certification.
  • Maintains accurate payroll records and transmits/edits payroll appropriately.
  • Assists with departmental COO program, outcomes management projects and other hospital initiatives.
  • Conducts thorough and complete orientation of all incoming personnel, utilizing the department orientation plan and ensuring all aspects are completed during the orientation process.
  • Performs all necessary actions to pursue/attain/maintain lab accreditation.
  • Coordinates and implements educational programs for the clinical advancement of neurodiagnostic technology and testing at both campuses.
  • Provides oversight in the performances of competency assessments for all technical staff performing neurodiagnostic studies; documents appropriately all required records and makes recommendations accordingly to assure competency of staff
  • Participates in quality improvement in Joint Commission activities
  • Oversees development of all Neurodiagnostic testing protocols/policies.
  • Participates at all Neuroscience Committee meeting as requested
  • Communicates regularly with the department director(s) to determine future needs, concerns, and issues pertinent to the daily operation of the

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

Required - Minimum five years' experience in clinical Neurodiagnostic procedures including but not limited to EEG, EP, NCS, EMG assistance, LTM, IONM; two years operational management

Preferred - Five or more years' experience in Neurodiagnostic practice and department management

EDUCATION

Required - Associate Degree, Registered EEG by ABRET

Preferred - Registered EEG Tech certification and one or more Neurodiagnostic credentials as outlined by ASET and ACNS
