Jones|Carter is an award-winning, full-service civil engineering, planning, surveying, and professional consulting firm assisting public and private sector clients in design, development, implementation, and execution of infrastructure projects. For over 45 years, we have assisted our clients in a variety of projects including water and wastewater treatment plants, storm drainage, transportation, planning, construction management, and surveying. We have 10 locations across Texas: Houston, Plano, Fort Worth, Austin, Round Rock, The Woodlands, Rosenberg, College Station, Katy, and San Antonio. We currently employ over 500 experienced design professionals and support staff with plans for continued expansion and growth in our future.

Responsibilities:
  • Creates or helps to create topographic surveys. Researches, reads and plot deeds. Prepare parcel maps and Land Title survey maps. Learn to write metes and bounds descriptions based on the Surveyors final boundary solution.
  • Prepares final topographic and boundary surveys
  • Perform site visits of jobs when needed and may accompany survey crew to locate and collect data required
  • Assists in the analysis and preparation of reports, maps, drawings and aerial photographs
  • Learns to read and understand civil, architectural and structural plans and prepare construction staking based on these plans
  • Prepares and organizes field data to use in the preparation of final drawings
  • Prepares preliminary construction, topographic and boundary surveys for review and further direction by the RPLS or Project Manager
  • Assists RPLS or Project Surveyor on job requirements with briefing/debriefing single or multiple survey field crews


Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have at 1-2 years of office survey experience using AutoCAD.
  • Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or at least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Carlson Survey software.
  • Basic records research experience
  • Working knowledge of GPS Data acquisition and processing.
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center and TSC3/TSC7 data controllers.
  • Understand design layouts, boundary and topographic surveys and construction staking.
  • Understand surveying terminology and can operate surveying equipment including total stations, transit and levels.
  • Ability to draft Legal Descriptions
  • Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills along with a strong mathematical aptitude.
