Jr. Production Designer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Studio Art Production & Digital Asset Management: Maintain the Jostens, School Annual and Memory Book Studio Art libraries, including over 10K creative assets available to customers for use in their yearbooks. Manage the introduction of 2.5K new pieces of art annually, ensuring that all files follow the appropriate licensing and file specifications and are archived in the JEM digital asset management system.
  • Studio Cover Production: Maintain and update studio cover library with 80-85 new cover designs produced annually, ensuring proper market differentiation across Jostens Brands. Work with plant artist to ensure that files are setup correctly for production.
  • Yearbook Page Template Production: Maintain Jostens Page Surfer, Click-N-Go, and Ad Builder Template Collections for both Layout Pro and Monarch, including over 20K page templates in two trim sizes. Introduce 2-3 new template collections annually for both Layout Pro and Monarch design platforms, featuring 25-50 templates per collection two trim sizes. Work with IT to test and validate all templates in Layout Pro and Monarch.
  • Digital Resource Management: Maintain Creative Ideas digital cover & design resources. Including: 3D cover renderings, Material Swatch libraries, Template Gallery, and Font Cards.
  • Publication Prepress and File Prep: Assist with the production of annual print catalogs included in the yearbook kit and/or staff store, including the Page Surfer Guide, Covers Guide, Studio Art Guide, Color Guide, and Font Guide.
  • Annual Trend Forecasting & Development: Maintain a working knowledge of industry and design trends. Prepare annual trend direction and present to plant artists, marketing and product teams each spring to inform new development initiatives for the upcoming school year.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
  • 1-2 years’ experience preparing files for print production
  • Advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat and WordPress.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn new tools and applications
  • Strong editing skills
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work well independently and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
  • Strong knowledge of print publishing and editorial design
  • Yearbook and or marketing experience
Typical/expected % of overnight travel: < 2%
