Journey Hospice has a rewarding and fulfilling position for a full time Director of Nursing to serve our clients in Philadelphia! This position would be based in our PA Office off Belmont Ave.
Basic Qualifications
Education/Training/Certifications: Registered professional nurse who has at least one (1) of the following: Bachelor of science degree in nursing and two (2) years combined public health nursing and progressive professional responsibilities in public health nursing;
Three (3) years combined public health nursing and progressive professional responsibilities in public health nursing.
Registered Nurse licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation that is insured in accordance with PA state requirements.
Skill(s): Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and be able to communicate effectively and relate courteously and cooperatively with patients, caregivers, colleagues, supervisors, co-workers and all others.
Must be able to demonstrate optimism, enthusiasm and willingness to work constructively with other members of the hospice team and reflect concern for the well-being of patients and employees.
Able to supervise staff and coach them to improve functioning and overall agency services.
Is an empathetic and effective listener.
Demonstrates a commitment to providing high quality hospice services as evidenced by appropriate professional behavior.
Shows genuine concern for those with whom he/she has a working relationship.
Demonstrates responsibility for enhancing professional growth.

Experience: Experience with pain and symptom management interventions preferred.
Experience in dealing with Medicare Hospice standards and New Jersey Hospice regulations.
Must demonstrate organizational and leadership abilities.
Must demonstrate a broad base knowledge of community health nursing and clinical skills
Must demonstrate ability to be able to work within a multidisciplinary team setting.
Understanding of Hospice philosophy and needs of terminally ill.
General Responsibilities
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the direction, provision, and quality of nursing services for the hospice program. This position is responsible for: the overall planning, supervision, and administration of nursing services including the hospice aides/ homemakers; the coordination and integration of nursing services with other hospice services to provide a continuum of care for the patient; the development of protocols for regular verbal communication, including case conferencing/coordinating care through the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and by other means between the nursing service and other disciplines based on the needs of each patient; the development of written job descriptions and performance criteria for nursing personnel, and assigning duties based upon education, training, competencies, and job descriptions; and ensuring that nursing services are provided to the patient as specified in the hospice plan of care relative to nursing care and services.
The Director of Nursing must be available at all times during the operating hours of the agency. The Nursing Supervisor reports to and receives consultation, direction and supervision from the Hospice Executive Director/Administrator.
