Web Developer

Overview

A d’Vinci Web Developer creates and maintains several small to large web applications and content-managed educational websites. They work with the designers, project managers, and other web developers to take client projects and d’Vinci-owned internal products from ideas to reality. The position’s primary focus will be programming application logic in PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL utilizing popular frameworks like Laravel and Angular.

Hybrid and Remote work options available for candidates that live in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Programs custom logic for educational/learning applications in PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript based on user stories, wireframes, and mockups.
• Working with a project manager and a designer, functions as the primary programmer for one or many educational client projects and/or d’Vinci-owned products.
• Develops systems, templates, and modules that are scalable and reusable to reduce development time and increase profitability, while adhering to best practices and standards.
• Identify problems (layout, design, usability, bugs, etc.) and resolve them with project managers and designers.
• Performs ongoing support and maintenance in tandem with d’Vinci support agents for existing client projects and/or d’Vinci-owned projects.
• Spends a portion of time meeting with internal team members to plan work, communicate task status, and review requirements.
• Estimates programming work for business development and other client or internal needs.
• Keep current with advances in web technologies and monitor industry trends in web development, tools and tech.
• Reviews finished work with clients and internal team members.
• Updates work item statuses in the issue tracking system.
• Works with QA specialists to correct and revise issues.
• All other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• An Associate's Degree or professional technical training in Computer Science or Graphic Design or equivalent (related work experience can be substituted for educational requirements).
• 2 Years of experience programming data-driven web sites.
• Above-average SQL query writing abilities and intermediate understanding of relational database modeling and development.
• Demonstrates above-average coding and debugging skills.
• Ability to work with other developers’ code (including frameworks and libraries).
• Familiarity with version control software and concepts of branching and merging.
• Understanding of deployment processes and semantic versioning.
• Is able to communicate programming concepts with technical and non-technical team members.
• Is capable of tailoring programming solutions within boundaries of project scope and timeframe.
• Must demonstrate competency in PHP and JavaScript.
• Experience with RESTful interfaces, AJAX, and JSON.
• Proficient in HTML and CSS.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Apache.

• Knowledge of popular PHP frameworks (Drupal, WordPress, CodeIgniter, Laravel, Zend).
