Job Summary: The BH Security Officer Team Lead collaborates with all behavioral health staff to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees. The BH Security Officer Team Lead is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Behavioral Health Security Officers (BHSO) such as shift assignments, environmental round completion, and incident reporting.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
- Manages the daily operations of the Behavioral Health Security Officers.
- Completes shift assessments and makes BHSO shift assignments based on staffing needs.
- Rounds interior assigned areas to ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors. Communicates timely to departmental leadership when appropriate.
- Works with all behavioral health staff to provide a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
- Provides assistance to BHSO's and other Behavioral Health Staff during departmental codes.
- Assists department during internal and external situations that may affect normal hospital operations.
- Demonstrates courteous and professional demeanor toward all persons when conducting business.
- Validates all environmental safety rounds are completed by the BHSO's, resolves situations at hand, and communicates any safety concerns to leadership in a timely manner.
- Provides patient and/or family service recovery to increase satisfaction, as appropriate. Makes routine patient rounds to improve engagement.
- Supports staff through mentoring and acting as a resource for crisis interventions.
- Communicates any incidents or concerns to leaders in a timely manner.
- Works independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.
- May lead multiple projects and is accountable for ongoing objectives.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Leads staff and provides ongoing support to the department.
