What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at JR Automation?
As a Buyer, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team that has been rated Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces for 6 consecutive years in a row. The Buyer will assist in the development of procurement plans and decisions to satisfy the material and service needs of the organization, as well as setting strategies and providing best in-class service to the program team.
What You’ll Do:
• Responsible for all commercial activities with suppliers such as negotiating proposals and obtaining product and/or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule
• Assist in development of a Trim Forecasting Tracking tool for future programs
• Work with team to develop and manage a master pricing document to identify long lead items
• In-Depth knowledge of:
- Mechanical and Controls material
- Manufactures and local distributors
- Fabrication and Machining
- Unit Build
- Tool Build
• Issue RFQ's, Statements of Work, blanket, contract or spot buy purchase orders
• Process material and service requisitions in a timely manner to prevent downtime and ensure uninterrupted supply
• Keep abreast of industry developments within all manufacturing groupings (assembly, machining, etc.) to be applied to all future sourcing/quoting decisions
• Supports long term supplier strategy, cost management, and obtains the optimum combination of cost, quality, delivery and service from suppliers
• Investigate, develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure timely receipt of parts and to ensure quality of parts received
• Establish and maintain long term, positive working relationships with suppliers, customers and internal team members
• Ensures that Esys products and services continue to be the benchmark within the industry

What You’ll Bring:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
• Five or more years' experience in strategic or operational procurement in an automation, capital equipment and/or machine tool environment, managing at least $10m in spend
Skills You’ll Have:
• Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills
• Ability to work onsite within the Esys offices or at supplier and/or customer locations as required
• Ability to engage with all areas of the organization, including Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Logistics, and Manufacturing
• Ability to analyze data and processes, and recommend solutions to enhance productivity and/or efficiencies
• Advanced contract negotiation skills to achieve best pricing and terms & conditions
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes, including reading blueprints, and machining techniques
Other Details:
• Travel to supplier/vendor facilities as needed
• Travel to other Esys/JR Automation facilities as needed
