Position Description:
This position supports the mission of JR Custom Metal Products, Inc. by purchasing materials, supplies and parts to ensure the success of on-time deliveries.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Reviews MRP demands and validates requirements.
- Procures raw material, supplies, and parts for the purpose of ensuring necessary items for production are available when needed. This may include obtaining quotes and bids.
- Communicates daily with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries to support production requirements.
- Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
- Ensures that the Company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials/inventory.
- Maintains cycle counting procedures to maintain the integrity of the inventory. Investigates and corrects inventory discrepancies in the computer database by researching transaction history, auditing open jobs, and taking physical counts.
- Determines best quantity, price and delivery schedule and negotiates as required.
- Verifies confirmation for accuracy, identifies any bottlenecks and communicates with management.
- Ensures CSI system is updated with accurate information.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- High school education or equivalent, required.
- Manufacturing background, required.
- 5 years of purchasing experience, required.
- 5 years of experience with MRP and scheduling, preferred.
- 5 years of raw material purchasing, preferred.
Skills:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be detail orientated, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to make decisions
- 3 years of experience with Microsoft Office, preferred.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Normal office environment with exposure to shop environment.
- Occasional bending, squatting, and twisting.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds independently.
- Remain in sitting position for extended periods of time.
Other:
- Working more than 40 hours per week may be required to complete company deliverables.
