Parts Puller

The Parts Puller is responsible for performing manual and clerical duties related to receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing of a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies used to support the assembly of products.
Essential Duties. The Parts Puller reads and fills production work orders by pulling parts or products as required. Loads and unloads materials by hand or by using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies; moves materials to the assigned area for storage or distribution.

  • S/he supplies boxed raw or recycled material to production lines; palletizes and bands material as necessary; pulls information for serialized components and labels material for distribution.
  • The position counts, inspects, organizes and monitors incoming or outgoing items to verify that product/materials match orders, invoices or other records; examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and notifies his/her supervisor of any discrepancies or problems immediately.
  • The Parts Puller works with quality assurance personnel to identify non-conforming parts; follows the established procedure to ensure all damaged/non-conforming material is identified and removed from inventory and outbound orders.
  • She/he completes the required paperwork and utilizes the computerized inventory system to maintain accurate counts and distribution logs.
  • The employee may assist as requested in researching and tracking missing inventory or shipments and with conducting physical counts to verify inventory on-hand. The Parts Puller assists in annual inventory counting, cycle counting and related activities to help maintain accurate inventory counts.
  • The position is responsible for complying with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations; he/she adheres to approved work instructions.
  • Maintains a clean work area including general care of machines and equipment; places scrap cardboard materials in compactor for baling; and empties trash as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Environment and Physical ActivityThe environment for this position is a warehouse area that is subject to conditions including noise is sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level; hazards including working close to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, exposure to chemicals and working at elevated levels. The worker may be subject to fumes, odors, dusts or mists.In the course of performing the duties of the position the worker spends time speaking, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, sitting, pulling, pushing, walking, squatting, kneeling, reaching, driving and standing for prolonged periods.Safety awareness and compliance with safety regulations is vital. Workers must wear special safety equipment such as masks and gloves.Mental Demands

The incumbent in this position must be able to: read and interpret documents or instruments, perform highly detailed work, perform mathematical functions and work well as a member of a team.
Position Requirements
These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.

  • High School diploma and three months receiving experience or equivalent education and/or experience; kitting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong process orientation: Detail oriented, ability to read, analyze and understand invoices, work orders, bills of lading, etc. Strong attention to accuracy.
  • Recognizes and understands product numbers and alpha/numeric codes; able to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • State certification in forklift operation beneficial but not required
  • Position requires proper use of all plant designated Personal Protective Equipment, to include but not be limited to; use of safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, ear plugs, dust mask, etc., as per OSHA and Arnott safety requirements.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.
