Singers is to present choral music that enhances our Sunday celebrations and affirms Jubilee's values of inclusiveness, respect for others and for the earth, creativity, community and compassion.
*Overview*
We are seeking an experienced Choral Director to join our Sunday celebration team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for choral music, have a playful and engaging style of teaching and is capable of sourcing fun, inspirational and challenging music. They would stear the Singers' success through effective communication and leadership.
*Responsibilities*
- Lead weekly Wednesday night rehearsals
- Source music for performances
- Lead the Singers at least twice each month at Sunday celebrations
- Recruit new members with the help of the choir and other Jubilants
- Communicate with the senior minister regularly to ensure the music selected supports the themes each Sunday
- Attend a semi-weekly staff meeting
- Assess the financial needs of the Singers and prepare an annual budget
- Provide and/or support the musical components of specific rituals and celebrations as requested by the senior minister.
- Maintain clear and responsive communication with the choir members regarding the schedule for rehearsals and performances.
- Be accepting of a variety of abilities and supportive of each individual's journey with choral singing
- Maintain an organized music library
- Be responsible for providing music reporting to appropriate agencies. This could include overseeing a volunteer to do the reporting.
*Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or proven superior experience in choral performance or a related field
- Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably as a Director or similar position
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to educate, mentor, and inspire team members
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 7 per week
