Our growing food distribution company is seeking a dynamic, motivated On-Road Supervisor to join our Savage, Maryland team! Come join a winning team & receive a $5000 signing bonus!
This position will be responsible for supervising all drivers, training, assisting on-road, customer visits while drivers are making deliveries etc.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise drivers, prepare drivers for their day & workload by providing regular training, coaching, follow up & support, including on road support & performance audit
- On road driver management
- Ensure safety compliance (HOS compliance, DVIR, pre/post-check, uniform, PPE, etc.)
- Monitor and enforce on time/route compliance
- Train, monitor, and enforce accurate and complete scanning
- Motivate, communicate, drive successful driver behavior
- Conduct regular Safety & Performance meetings
- Train new drivers
Characteristics:
- Previous experience and/or formal training or education in the transportation industry, preferably in the food industry. Class B CDL preferred. Refrigerated truck experience a plus.
- Sound knowledge of DOT Safety regulations, and FMSCA compliance regulations required.
- Possess strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise the work of others. Must be able to take direction, motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results.
- Exceptional multi-tasking and communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to deal with a wide variety of people both in person and over the phone.
- Strong sense of urgency, with the ability to handle administrative duties along with operations management in a fast paced, time sensitive industry.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
- Flexibility with schedule including ability to work nights, weekend and holidays to support 24/7 operation
- Basic understanding of Microsoft office applications, with strong Excel preferred.
