Community Outreach Manager
Position Description: The Community Outreach Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This role is an important part of the Junior Achievement (JA) team as they represent the organization to a wide variety of community and business members. As a Community Outreach Manager, you will mainly be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers for our organization. This position is responsible to find collaborative and passionate individuals and businesses to volunteer with JA of South Florida. This person must cultivate and develop long-term JA partnerships to secure volunteers for all JA programs. The Community Outreach Manager will recruit, train, maintain, and recognize individuals and group volunteers in addition to coordinate all aspects of large-scale volunteer initiatives as part of a team that leads approximately 7,000 JA volunteers that will impact 50,000 students annually.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enhance and manage the organization’s Volunteer Program including recruiting, training, retention, and recognition
- Manage the Volunteer Specialist and Customer Service Specialist
- Represent JA with the highest of standards to all constituents including volunteers, teachers, students, sponsors, donors and guests.
- Analyze volunteer feedback with the intention of improving quality
- Ensure proper record and compliance management for all volunteers
- Work closely with Grants Manager for grant deliverables
- Develop and implement budget for Volunteer Program including tracking and coding expenses to ensure financial goals are met
- Communicate regularly with all program managers and department leaders to understand and meet their volunteers needs and
- Provide the necessary tools and resources so all staff can assist in recruiting, training, retention and recognition
- Work with the Chief Revenue Officer to create and implement a Volunteer Giving Program
Recruitment & Training
- Manage and grow the JA volunteer base through a variety of methods including students’ parents, corporate partnerships, Educational Institution partnerships, local membership groups, retirement communities, etc.
- Create and distribute appropriate marketing and awareness pieces to the community.
- Identify experienced volunteer participants for possible JA speaking engagements.
- Responsible for community outreach and networking events to advance JA's mission and appeal to the community.
- Develop and deliver JA volunteer recruitment and training presentations
- Develop opportunities for recruiting corporate teams to volunteer.
- Develop and manage referral/buddy/onboarding programs.
- Seek innovative ideas to improve volunteer recruitment and retention such as increasing the number of parent volunteers
- Create and distribute comprehensive and consistent volunteer training resources
- Provide training to volunteers
Retention & Recognition
- Maintain clear and effective communication with volunteers via email and phone in a timely manner
- Oversee cross functional team to implement Roll Up Your Sleeve recognition awards event as part of the volunteer recognition program
- Coordinate and manage large volunteer projects
- Analyze Volunteer Feedback to provide metrics for the volunteer program
- Quickly rectify any volunteer challenges
- Seek innovative ways to increase volunteer retention and recognition.

Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Two or more years of Junior Achievement or related experience. (non-profit youth organizations)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint required; SharePoint, Teams, and/or Power BI preferred
- Proven experience as Volunteer Coordinator or similar role
- One or more years of experience in volunteering
- Demonstrated ability in recruiting, screening, and training.(1 or more years)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, motivate, lead and relate effectively to a wide variety of individuals; excellent oral and written skills.
- Some knowledge in Employer Branding and Recruitment Marketing
- Established relationships with area businesses and groups.
Compensation and Schedule:
- This is a salaried position with a competitive compensation package that includes generous Paid Time Off, medical benefits fully paid for the employee and additional workplace benefits.
- Typical work hours (minimum 40-hour work week) are 7:15am – 4pm, M-F, with half hour lunch, however these times may vary according to school schedule and fulfilling responsibilities may require additional hours.
- This position is based at administrative offices at JA World, and includes travel within Broward and south Palm Beach.
- Special event support is required on weeknights, weekends, and holidays for JA events.
