Juniper Systems is looking for a talented individual to join our supply chain team in the role of a Project Buyer. This person will work with project teams to provide research on components and collaborate with various departments and potential suppliers. The Project Buyer will also identify and educate project teams on the status of proposed parts meeting critical Supply Chain management areas of visibility, velocity and variability. This role will assist in the review, selection, and certification of suppliers while documenting all appropriate information. The Project Buyer will be responsible for negotiating contracts with suppliers with a focus on protecting the interests of Juniper Systems, Inc. while creating a partnership environment for mutual growth and cost containment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research all project components for roadmap of the part and provide information to the project and purchasing teams if parts are flagged for change or obsoletion, long lead-time parts (over 4 weeks), and single source parts.
  • Work with scheduling for pilot production builds.
  • Work with Document Control and Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager assisting in the flow of information for project part structure set up.
  • Work with project manager to expedite project part orders if needed.
  • Assists in supplier certification process and audits.
  • Assists in research of parts, setting up part ties and purchasing functions.
  • Tracks on-time deliveries, quality, and design issues from suppliers for project parts.
  • Works with accounting to resolve any invoice / purchase order discrepancies.
  • Enhancing supplier base by developing and deepening partnerships with preferred suppliers.
  • Utilize shared sourcing with suppliers when appropriate.
  • Mitigate effect of end of life parts by providing options and management of assigned commodity parts affected. Tracking and monitoring of the change working with support group and S&OP (Sales and Operation Plan).

Required and Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in the discipline of the job and related experience OR 4-7 years of directly relevant job experience if the candidate has no schooling OR a combination of schooling and experience that is equivalent to a Bachelor of Science graduate with related experience.
  • Experience working with mechanical/fabricated part drawings and technical spec understanding.
  • Requires a broad understanding of lean manufacturing processes, budgets, purchasing, and negotiation.
  • APICS Certification is strongly recommended.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP and windows operating systems and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:

This position requires sitting, standing, walking for extended periods of time, use of hands, and occasional reaching and lifting. Requires the ability to see. This position requires close vision and color vision.

Working Hours:

Normal 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, normal time off for holidays. May choose to work a 9/8 schedule and have every other Friday off. Typically required travel is less than 20 nights per year, which travel might include some weekend time.
